Alcatel Lucent

In partnership with the Centre for Telecommunications Value Chain (CTVR), Alcatel-Bell Labs Research Ireland has examined various next-generation wireless communications systems using Test and Trial Ireland.

Telefonica O2 Ireland

Telefonica O2 Ireland used Test and Trial Ireland to carry out a mobile TV trial using the DVB-H standard.

"This trial allowed us to examine a range of technical issues including coverage, device interoperability, content security and access, while also allowing us the opportunity to gather vital consumer feedback on the trial service"

OnAir

OnAir has used Test and Trial Ireland to carry out the aircraft electromagnetic conformance measurements required to obtain an authorisation to offer GSM services on-board aircraft (MCA).

"These measurements namely helped us obtain airworthiness certification for the installation and operation of MCA equipment on board Boeing 737 800 type aircraft enabling the launch of in-flight mobile phone services with Ryanair."

Vodafone

Vodafone Ireland utilised Test and Trial Ireland to trial 3G mobile communications services in the 900 MHz frequency band.

Ericsson

Ericsson Ireland used Test and Trial Ireland to carry out verification tests of GSM and 3G mobile phones against Ericsson network infrastructure.

"As Ericsson Ireland was granted test licences for the worldwide suite of GSM and 3G WCDMA frequency bands, this programme allowed us to undertake verification tests applicable to the global market."

Trinity College Dublin and CTVR

Trinity College Dublin, as part of the Centre for Telecommunications Value-Chain Research (CTVR), used Test and Trial Ireland to test reconfigurable software-based radio and dynamic spectrum management techniques.

"The ability to realistically test our research ideas in clean, dedicated spectrum has enabled us to significantly advance our reconfigurable radio system and opens the potential for us to convert our high-quality academic output into exploitable Intellectual Property."

RTÉ Network Limited

RTÉ Network Limited (RTÉNL), Ireland's national broadcaster transmission service provider, used Test and Trial Ireland to trial a range of digital radio and television broadcasting technologies.
